Not the best start for Ferrari in Bahrain, although both drivers qualified in the top three, they had to change Felipe Massa’s engine after ‘abnormal parameters’.
Now it has emerged the Italian squad will replace Fernando Alonso’s engine as a ‘precaution’.
“Caution can never be enough, especially at the first race. That’s why the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro decided to replace the engine in car number 8 after abnormalities appeared during the usual routine this morning, similar to those found in Felipe’s engine yesterday.
“The mechanics are working incessantly to complete the replacement, which will not lead to any sanctions for the driver, who will start from the third position on the grid,” a statement said on the teams website said.
