Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Mark Webber have expressed concern over the lack of testing Campos, which is to be renamed Hispania Racing, has carried out.
The Spanish outfit has experienced financial difficulties leading to late payments to Dallara, the company constructing their 2010 car, causing delays to the process which have left the team without time to test.
Meanwhile a second team could also join the field without prior testing. Stefan GP could replace the failed US F1 outfit if the FIA allow it, and the team gets unanimous approval from all current teams.
“One or two teams will debut in a week without ever turning a steering wheel beforehand. I don’t know how that is going to go,” Red Bull team boss Horner told Servus TV.
Mark Webber has likened it to Tom and Jerry or Mickey Mouse. “It’s embarrassing.” He told the Australian agency AAP.
“It’s incredible that people who haven’t yet turned a wheel take part in grands prix. It’s the sort of stuff from Mickey Mouse or Tom and Jerry.”
