Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel set the quickest time of the day in Jerez on Wednesday. As the weather dried out in the afternoon, times began to tumble.

Lotus debuted their T127 at the Jerez test. Test driver Fauzy completed an impressive 76 laps, 66 more than Timo Glock in the Virgin, which has struggled to get up to speed.

“Without power steering Fauzy has done an awesome job,” team boss Tony Fernandes said.

Lewis Hamilton put in his quickest time of the day to take second, just over four hundredths behind Vettel.
