With four hours of racing remaining in the 24 Hours of Daytona, it appears that the battle for the top spot is going to come down to the wire between Cadillac and Acura.

Both factory efforts have both of their cars in the top four positions, although the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura is still two laps down after oil filler troubles overnight.

At the front, Scott Dixon is leading the way in the #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac.  He has maintained that position for much of the morning running and is as consistent as he needs to be.

His IndyCar rival is still on the lead lap, however, and Simon Pagenaud’s #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura has looked like the fastest car for much of the race.

A 54 second gap is easily surmountable with four hours still to go, and things are trending towards a close finish in the highly-anticipated GTP debut.

Sitting back in third is the other Cadillac prototype, ensuring the Acura pit crew is calculating gaps both ahead and behind.

The Porsches had more troubles as the sun rose, with the #7 making another stop in the garage area.  The higher-running car from the team is still four laps behind late in the race.

The #04 LMP2 driven by Ben Hanley continues to lead in class, but the lead is only 10 seconds.

In LMP3, there was heartbreak as the Sean Creech Motorsport entry was plagued with a mechanical problem that caused the team to lose 17 laps fixing the issue.  The #17 AWA prototype now leads the final prototype class.

GTD PRO has now overtaken GTD in the overall standings, and the #3 Corvette narrowly holds the advantage over the #79 Mercedes AMG.

The Winward Mercedes leads GTD and is running only one lap behind the top GT drivers.

The race is currently in the middle of a nearly six-hour caution-free spell, leaving the drivers to rack up the laps quickly.  There were nearly a couple full course yellows thrown as the sun rose, but all the stopped cars were able to get going again without assistance.
