Ferrari set their sights on two race wins in 2015

Ferrari are targeting a rather modest two race wins this season according to new team principal Maurizio Arrivabene, who says he’s “just being realistic”.

The outfit has failed to win a race since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix, resulting in a major reshuffle of the technical and managerial departments at the Scuderia.

Therefore a realistic goal of two race wins is what they’ve laid down as a marker to determine whether 2015 is a success or not.

“I am just realistic,” said Arrivabene. “Nobody has the magic to change things, when things are unchangeable.

“We find the car, the car was ready December of [last] year, and we apply certain modifications that in our opinion, are quite interesting.

“I don’t want to say that we are going to win the world championship but for sure we are committed at least to win two races.”

New signing Sebastian Vettel also urged caution when it came to predicting the success of the SF15-T, but he too backs his bosses’ target of two wins.

“I think we would be happy with that,” added Vettel. “But of course we would be happy if we win more.

“We have to be realistic. There is a lot of change that’s happened over the winter. So I think the most important thing is we start getting into the groove quickly in winter testing and then we start to make progress.

“If the situation is like last year, it will be very difficult to fight for victory. But that’s our goal, we’re not here to finish second.”
