Whilst Mark Webber believes McLaren are hiding their true pace, Jenson Button believes Red Bull are ‘untouchable’.
McLaren dominated first practice in Barcelona, recording a 1-2 finish with Lewis Hamilton leading Button, however Red Bull switched places with McLaren in second practice, also taking a 1-2.
Sebastian Vettel’s quickest time was over eight-tenths quicker than that of Michael Schumacher in third and over 1.2 seconds quicker than the quickest McLaren.
Button made the admission in an interview with the BBC on Friday.
“It’s horrible to say it, but I think Red Bull are untouchable this weekend,” the championship leader said.
“We’re not happy with how the car feels so we’re not getting a good lap times, but the Red Bulls look very quick.”
Vettel has qualified on pole for three of the last four races, teammate Webber being the only other driver to be on pole this season, proving the Red Bull’s dominance, however when it comes to the race, they have struggled to convert the front-row starts into wins.
