Kolles: ‘Hispania will build its own 2011 car’

Hispania will build their own 2011 car according to team boss Colin Kolles.

When the team was Campos, it hired Italian manufacturer Dallara to design and build their 2010 car. Financial difficulties meant the project was paused on numerous occasions which led to corners being cut to ensure it was built in time for the opening race in Bahrain – which was touch and go for the team.

Kolles though is keen on developing the current car before switching the development process over to the 2011 car.

“The next step is that we get our own development program running and then build our own 2011 car,” he told Sport1.de. “This year, we will try to improve the car as far as possible. But we have to eventually draw a line and focus on 2011.

“The vision is clear: to bring the team forward. You must save the team, stabilize it and bring it forward by making the right decisions.”

Kolles likened the process to that of Force India with whom he previously worked for.

“For Force India, it has taken five years. We want to make it in three.

“I personally can not afford to do Formula One. I create value for other people. I did that for Spyker, the Mol family and so on. The team has always sold for more because the team has developed.

“And most people who know about it, know that I am the only one who can do it. This is not meant to be arrogant, it’s quite simply because no one else has this infrastructure and know-how.”
