FP2: Hamilton quickest despite stopping on track

Lewis Hamilton set the pace in the afternoon session on Friday for the British Grand Prix, but later stopped on the circuit having completed just 14 laps, less than half what team-mate Nico Rosberg completed.

The German was second, just two-tenths back, whilst Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was a further five-tenths behind the Mercedes duo.

Hamilton may have been quickest, but a loss of oil pressure saw him stop on track, which might be cause for concern as the Briton will be wanting to avoid any more reliability troubles this season.

Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel completed the top five.

Valtteri Bottas meanwhile cut short his session after his sidepod and engine cover bodywork came loose during the session, with much of it breaking off and littering the track with debris.
