Dennis would love to see Hamilton back at McLaren

Ron Dennis has no hard feelings toward Lewis Hamilton after the Briton departed McLaren at the end of 2012 to join rival Mercedes, and would in fact love to see Hamilton back at Woking in the future.

Dennis, speaking to Sky Sports, admitted that their 2015 driver line-up isn’t confirmed and if the possibility of re-signing Hamilton came about, it’d be an opportunity he would jump at.

“We want to win races and we will always hope that the best available drivers would want to drive our cars,” he said.

“The key word is available because people have contracts and we respect those contracts, but if Lewis was in a position to drive for us next year, as with many of the other top drivers if they were in that position, we would love to have them on board.”

Along with Hamilton, several others have been linked with a move to McLaren which reunites with Honda next year. Among them include Fernando Alonso and Romain Grosjean.

With all the talk of drivers coming and going, Dennis insisted that neither Jenson Button or Kevin Magnussen need to feel threatened.

“No one should ever feel threatened as a driver or a mechanic, all we want to do is win and we have to take considered positions and considered decisions on that process.”
