The marshals volunteering at the Canadian Grand Prix will wear black armbands in memory of Mark Robinson who passed away at the race last year.
Robinson, 38, had been helping to recover a stricken Sauber at the end of the race. He was in charge of keeping the car stable whilst it was recovered by a crane.
However as it neared the pitlane, Robinson tripped and was then hit by the crane which, unable to see him, drove over his body causing serious internal injuries which he later died from in hospital.
A minute’s silence was held at the 2013 British Grand Prix which following the race in Canada.
In further tribute, marshals will wear black armbands whilst a page in the official race programme will be dedicated to the Canadian.
As part of an investigation, which found the race organisers guilty of moving a vehicle without proper training, all marshals have undergone extensive training over the past week.
