Nico Rosberg will start from pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix after the race stewards chose to take “no further action” against the German.
The stewards had called Rosberg before them after he used ran off circuit during qualifying, which resulted in him securing pole as team-mate Lewis Hamilton wasn’t able to complete his lap due to yellow flags.
That led to some speculation that Rosberg may have deliberately gone-off to ensure pole was his.
He then proceeded to reverse back onto the circuit whilst Hamilton was rounding the same corner, Mirabeau.
Three hours and 30 minutes after qualifying, the FIA confirmed that no action would be taken against the Mercedes driver and he will therefore start P1, alongside Hamilton in second.
In a short statement, the stewards noted that after reviewing footage and data, they ruled that “no offence was committed by the driver of car number six [Rosberg].”
