Renault has advised its four teams that they may now use full power for the Australian Grand Prix weekend.
Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Lotus and Caterham have all been running their new Renault V6 power units at reduced power to ensure they could complete some significant running during testing.
However Renault, with the help of Red Bull, has re-written the software which controls the new power unit and they believe a significant step forward has been made following further dyno-testing.
Speaking to Autosport, Renault’s head of trackside operations Remi Taffin, explained that they now believe they’ve caught up with their development programme.
“We were behind schedule on some of the items we wanted to have on the car, which prevented us to run to full potential.
“But I think we are now sorted and we will be able to see how it will go with maximum power.”
