Don’t expect a different result to the last eight races, even if it rains in Brazil, according to Lewis Hamilton who believes Sebastian Vettel will win regardless of the conditions on Sunday.
Rain is expected to hit the track at some point between Friday and Sunday and is actually forecast on each of the three days. Usually such conditions would add an extra element to the races and often spring a surprise result such as Jenson Button’s victory in Brazil last year.
Hamilton however isn’t so sure and says Vettel’s car advantage is so extreme, that he’ll likely win regardless.
“If he doesn’t finish, that’s the best chance [we have]!” Hamilton said on Thursday. “Even if it rains he still has more downforce, the car works much better.
“It’s going to be better in whatever weather, even if it snows! So there’s not really a huge amount of hope in that sense.”
Hamilton aims to run his own race before taking the winter period to recoup and iron out some issues he’s experienced over the season.
“I’ve generally struggled with the set-up, so dialling the set-up in is really not easy with this car for some reason,” he explained.
“So over the winter it is about exploring some of those things and just being open-minded. When I came here I tried to put things where I had them previously so I could just hit the ground running, but with a different car you need to adjust it more in a different direction. So that’s what we’ve been working on and I’m hoping next year we have less issues setting the car up.”
