Williams are hopeful of continuing the good form experienced in Austin on Sunday after Valtteri Bottas took his first points, taking their total from just one to five.
The Finnish driver looked strong throughout qualifying, topping Q1. He eventually qualified ninth and raced well to finish eighth.
Speaking after the race, he thanked the team for a deserved result.
“I’m very happy to get my first points in Formula One today,” he said. “The whole weekend has been good from setting up the car in practice through to the strategy and pitstops in the race. We managed the tyres well today and I had good feedback from my engineers on them throughout.
“We did have a bit of pressure from Rosberg at the end but I was able to keep pushing and hold the position. I want to say a big thanks to everyone in the team and at the factory as they have all been working so hard and really deserve this result.”
Race engineer Xevi Pujolar is confident they can race well in Brazil too after changes to the FW35 proved fruitful.
“It was a great result for him to secure his first Formula One points and a well deserved end to the weekend for all the team.
“It was a great improvement for us here in Austin and now we aim to continue the momentum to end the season on a high in Brazil.”
