Filipe Albuquerque has continued Acura’s dominance at the Roar Before the 24, with the Portuguese driver putting an ARX-05 for the third session in a row.
He posted a 1m 34.947s in the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing machine, 0.404s ahead of the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR of Mike Conway.
The fourth session was somewhat of a messy one, with four red flags and some rain in the second half.
Castroneves was third quickest in the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura, with Chip Ganassi’s Sebastien Bourdais and Ally Cadillac Racing’s Mike Rockenfeller rounding out the top five.
Marcus Ericsson was sixth for Chip Ganassi Racing, with Tristan Vautier seventh in class but only eight overall. The Frenchman’s #5 Cadillac came in behind the #8 Tower Motorsport ORECA 07-Gibson of Ferdinand Habsburg, who set the quickest time in the secondary class with 1m 36.710s.
Habsburg was 0.240s faster than High Class Racing’s Fabio Scherer, with Nicolas Lapierre third for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports. LMP3 was led by Seb Priaulx in the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport JS P320-Nissan.
In the GTD classes, the new GTD Pro class runners once again found themselves beaten to the best time in class by a GTD runner. In this case, it was David Pittard in the #98 NorthWest AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
Pittard’s best time, a 1m 46.345s, was two-tenths faster than Dirk Mueller in the #15 Proton USA Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, the quickest car in GTD Pro.
Behind Mueller, Alessio Picariello was second in class in the #79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, but slower than the TR3 Racing Lamborghini Huracan of Giacomo Altoe, who was second quickest in GTD.
Dennis Olsen was third in GTD Pro for KCMG, followed by Vasser Sullivan’s Ben Barnicoat, TR3 Racing’s Rolf Ineichen and Maro Engel for WeatherTech Racing.
