Team TGM will make its return to the Rolex 24 at Daytona with a Porsche GTD entry, supported by Wright Motorsports.

The team will be will entering a single Porsche 911 GT3 R, set to be driven by owner-driver Ted Giovanis alongside Hugh Plumb, Owen Trinkler, and Matt Plumb.

Wright Motorsports, which will also be fielding a Porsche entry of their own in the GTD category, will provide operational support for the second year in a row.

The Georgia-based squad’s maiden run at Daytona last year ended in retirement on Sunday morning. Giovanis says the team is now ready for another attempt at the Florida classic.

“We put so much time and preparation into the double-duty event last January, and we felt like we were cheated out of the finish,” he said. “We gave it a great deal of thought, as it is a huge investment of both time and money, but Team TGM is ready to tackle the Rolex 24 again this year.”

In addition to its GTD effort, the team will also return to the Michelin Pilot Challenge with a pair of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports.

“As announced in late 2021, we will be campaigning two Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports in an effort to claim the 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship, and we will also do double-duty with the same four drivers entered in the Rolex 24,” Giovanis continued.

“We feel especially good about being able to race completely under the Porsche banner this season. The marque is one of the most respected in the sport, and John Wright and his crew are the foremost authorities in North America. We’re very excited to be working with them again.”

Crucial Motorsports name McLaren line-up

Crucial Motorsport has, meanwhile, also named its line-up for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, where it will be fielding the first-ever McLaren 720S GT3 entry.

McLaren factory driver and team manager Paul Holton will be partnering Lance Bergstein, Jon Miller and Patrick Gallagher.

Bergstein will make making his IMSA debut, while Miller is his driving coach. Gallagher, meanwhile, is a former Mazda MX-5 Cup champion and graduates from the Michelin Pilot Challenge.

The Orlando-based operation will be making its IMSA debut as part of a four-race programme in the Michelin Endurance Cup.

Its maiden outing as a professional racing team came during last year’s Indianapolis 8 Hours, part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
