Maximilian Götz, along with Indy Lights racer Linus Lundqvist, will complete Alegra Motorsport’s line-up for the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The duo will be joined by Michael de Quesada and Daniel Morad aboard the #28 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

While Götz is a longtime Mercedes-AMG factory driver and a champion in both DTM and the Blancpain GT Series, he has not raced in the Florida classic before.

“I’m really looking forward to kicking my motorsport season off in Daytona,” he said. “After some days off, it’s time to hit the track with new energies and new targets. After winning DTM last year, I will start the season with a new team and teammates.”

“It has always been a big dream to race in Daytona, to win it even more so. I am looking forward to being part of such a great team Alegra Motorsports, meeting all my mates very soon and getting in touch with such a traditional track.”

Lundqvist, meanwhile, will make his second start at Daytona. The Swedish racer made his first appearance in 2019 with Precision Performance Motorsports.

The 22-year-old has been climbing the American single seater ladder in recent years, with a dominant title campaign in the Formula Regional Americas Championship in 2020 followed by a maiden season in Indy Lights, where he claimed three race wins.

“Firstly, I want to thank Carlos [de Quesada, team founder] and Tony [Ditto, team manager] for giving me the opportunity to race with them; I’m really looking forward to being back at Daytona for the Rolex 24 Hours,” Lundqvist said.

“I believe we can achieve a good result. We have a strong lineup, a really good team and a fast car. There’s no better way to start the year than this!”

Alegra holds two class victories at Daytona, both in Porsche machinery. The first came in 2007, with the most recent win dating back to 2017 when father-and-son duo De Quesada won in a Porsche 911 GT3 R with a line-up that also included Morad and Porsche factory driver Michael Christensen.

“2021 was our first year with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, and we learned a lot,” said team manager Tony Ditto. “It was a tough season with lots of elbows out racing, and that allowed us to get to know every part of the Mercedes-AMG; I think that will really pay off for us this year.”

“I’m also excited to have Max and Linus joining Daniel and Michael. We’ve got a lot of winning experience in the car this year.”
