Era Motorsport will return to the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s LMP2 class in 2022 with an unchanged driver line-up.
Dwight Merriman and Ryan Dalziel will pair up for the full season aboard the team’s #18 ORECA 07-Gibson, with Kyle Tilley joining for the endurance rounds and Paul-Loup Chatin rounding out the squad at Daytona.
Merriman, Dalziel, Tilley and Chatin took the team’s first win at last year’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, meaning they are heading into January’s race as the defending LMP2 champions.
“Our third season in IMSA promises to be one of our biggest challenges yet,” said team owner Tilley. ‘With an influx of teams to IMSA LMP2 competition, the level has certainly been raised.
“Whilst I’m going to miss being one of the full-season drivers in our #18 Oreca, it is the right decision for the business and the LMP2 team as a whole, as we strive to build our brand ahead of LMDh.”
“That said, I am delighted to be able to stay as the 3rd for the Michelin Endurance Cup, and to defend our victory at the Rolex 24!”
Müller in at High Class Racing
Nico Müller has meanwhile been announced as the fourth and final driver for High Class Racing at Daytona.
The Audi factory driver will make his debut in the championship and in the endurance classic aboard the Danish squad’s ORECA 07-Gibson.
He will race alongside Anders Fjordbach, Dennis Andersen and compatriot Fabio Scherer. Fjordbach and Andersen are the full-season pairing, while Scherer contests the endurance rounds.
Müller, a two-time DTM runner up, is gearing up for Audi’s LMDh programme in 2023 with the appearance with High Class forming part of his preparations for next year. He will also race in the FIA World Endurance Championship with new outfit Vector Sport.
