Racing Team Nederland will contest the full IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup campaign in 2022, adding Rinus VeeKay to the team’s line-up for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The Dutch, TDS-Racing operated team will enter all four IMSA enduros with its ORECA 07-Gibson, starting in Daytona and also including the Twelve Hours of Sebring, Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen and Motul Petit Le Mans.

Frits van Eerd and Giedo van der Garde will once again form the core of the team’s line-up but are joined by Dylan Murry. Murry makes his LMP2 debut, having spent last season with Riley Motorsports’ LMP3 line-up.

“Since we won the world title in 2021, the timing of this new challenge is perfect,” said team owner Van Eerd. “I have loved racing in the wonderful FIA WEC, but I have always said that at some point I would like to take Racing Team Nederland to IMSA as well.”

“I studied in the USA and attended IMSA races back then. So, to now do these four famous IMSA races is really a dream come true for me. At the beginning of 2021 we did the Rolex 24 at Daytona already. That was a fantastic experience and I am very happy to go back for the complete Endurance Cup series.”

The team will be joined at Daytona by IndyCar race winner Rinus VeeKay. The Dutchman will complete the four-man driving squad for the twice-around-the-clock enduro. VeeKay, 21, made his first appearance at Daytona last year as part of DragonSpeed’s LMP2 team.

“It is great that I will get the chance to do the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Racing Team Nederland,” said VeeKay It has always been my dream to one day race together with Frits, who has been my loyal sponsor for many years already. I love it that this dream will now come true!”

Racing Team Nederland made their Rolex 24 debut earlier this year, but their effort ended early when the team was forced to retire due to gearbox issues.

“All of us at IMSA welcome TDS Racing and the JUMBO branded LMP2 team to the 2022 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup,” said IMSA president John Doonan.

“It was always the vision of our founders – the Bishop Family and the France Family – to have the best teams, the best cars and the best drivers from around the world compete at IMSA races like the ROLEX 24 at Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the Sahlen’s Six Hours at The Glen, and Motul Petit Le Mans.”

“Clearly, having high-caliber programs like the No. 29 team join the IMSA Family for these four prestigious events on the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship calendar is very special and we wish them all the best in their efforts.”
