Pirelli’s motorsport director Paul Hembery will not attend Friday’s FIA press conference following practice for the Canadian Grand Prix after Pirelli’s legal team advised him against it.
Hembery had been scheduled to take part in the session alongside Ross Brawn (Mercedes), Stefano Domenicali (Ferrari), Christian Horner (Red Bull), Monisha Kaltenborn (Sauber) and Martin Whitmarsh (McLaren).
It’s believed his legal team are keen to avoid questions about the secret tyre test with Mercedes following the Spanish Grand Prix, especially when he is sat alongside Mercedes team principal Brawn, the two principal’s from the protesting teams and FOTA chairman Whitmarsh.
Brawn and Domenicali have also confirmed they will not be answering questions about the test and upcoming International Tribunal in much detail.
According to the regulations, team members and representatives can be fined for failing to attend or even arriving late, but it doesn’t mention anything about suppliers – therefore Hembery and Pirelli are unlikely to face a fine.
