Vettel: ‘I might not stay for much longer’

Sebastian Vettel has admitted he may leave Formula 1 or switch teams in a few years time depending on how he feels about racing.

The 25-year-old doesn’t speak often about leaving Red Bull – or indeed F1 – but having secured three successive titles with the team, many believe he may seek a new challenge when his contract expires at the end of 2014, and this is the first hint of his possible intentions.

“Maybe I won’t be driving in five years because I’m tired of it,” he told Motorsport-Total. “Maybe in five years I’ll be with another team because I feel like a different challenge.

“Everyone evolves over the years and priorities shift.”

It’s incredibly unlikely for a driver to spend their entire career with a single team, and whilst Vettel admits he’s comfortable at present, that doesn’t mean he’ll commit his racing future to Red Bull.

“At the moment I’m very comfortable and cannot imagine going somewhere else at this stage.

“The car is fast, the team is good. I currently see no reason to go but that doesn’t mean I’ll stay forever,” he added.
