It would seem the USF1 team has finally closed for good as the Charlotte based outfit has taken the decision to layoff all of it’s staff.
Permanent layoff emails were posted to all remaining employees, who have been on unpaid leave for the last few months.
In the emails, the Charlotte Business Journal quoted team principal Ken Anderson as saying employees may be rehired in the future “if business conditions improve”, but stated the reason for the layoff’s was the “serious economic and funding challenges” which the team encountered.
It looks unlikely that the team will reapply for the 2011 season, unless fresh investment can be found, and then the FIA may take a dim view of the outfit after their 2010 troubles.
