Marussia are on course to debut their 2013 challenger at the first test of the season according to team principal Graeme Lowdon.
The team had previously missed the first two pre-season tests at the start of 2012, only debuting their car, the MR-02, at Silverstone for a promotional run before attending the final test in Barcelona before the Australian Grand Prix.
Lowdon though is confident they won’t suffer the same setbacks, which included crash test delays, as they head into their fourth year.
“It’s on target at the moment, and in fact some bits are ahead,” he told Autosport. “We’ve got a high degree of confidence. We’ve got a totally different structure now.
“This will be our first car that’s truly our car in terms of the new people involved. The car we’ve just finished with was a full CFD car when we hit the first race.”
The team narrowly missed out on tenth place at the final race of the season. costing them around £10 million in prize money, but Lowdon has no doubts they’re a top-ten team.
“I definitely think this is a top 10 team,” he added. “We didn’t have a top 10 car, and that’s something that takes time and money.”
