Outboard mirrors will be banned from the Spanish grand prix onward, according to Autosport.
There have been various safety concerns over the past few seasons, with a lack of rear visibility caused by the vibrations travelling through the mirrors, making them near useless.
In Melbourne, a handful of drivers stated they would be discussing the matter with the FIA after several drivers were blocked in qualifying.
Red Bull, Ferrari, Williams, Sauber, Force India and Hispania will all have to revise their mirror design, moving them onto the monocoque.
