Red Bull look to have already placed a hand upon both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ trophies as we near the final few races of the tumultuous 2012 season.
Sebastian Vettel may sit four points behind leader Fernando Alonso, however he sits in a far superior car which dominated the field in Japan and suits the remainder of circuits.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner isn’t counting his chickens yet however, and warns anything could happen.
“It will be down to what the two of them [Vettel and Alonso] do on track now, and the relative performance of the cars over the remaining five races,” he said.
“Hopefully we have some circuits coming up that should suit the characteristics of our package in the remaining races.”
Horner warned that McLaren could still spring a surprise following its string of victories and he remains wary of Ferrari’s upcoming developments.
“We have seen McLaren have had a really strong streak of performance and let’s not underestimate them either, and we certainly don’t.
“I think Ferrari has got big upgrades coming over the next couple of races, which they have mentioned. We can only control what we are doing and try and get as much performance out of our package as we possibly can – we cannot control what others do.”
