Pastor Maldonado has been handed a double-grid penalty for the Italian Grand Prix after he was involved in two incidents, the latter bringing an end to his race.
The Venezuelan driver had qualified third but was dropped to sixth after the stewards deemed he had blocked Nico Hulkenberg during qualifying.
He then made a premature getaway off the grid as he jumped the start lights, catapulting him into third position before he was tagged at the rear, spinning him at La Source.
However, he couldn’t serve a drive-through penalty for the error as he retired after the restart when he ran into Marussia’s Timo Glock.
The FIA decided to penalise him for both incidents at the next event, the Italian GP.
