The FIA World Endurance Championship will be allowing fans to attend the Six Hours of Monza, marking the first time a WEC round has welcomed spectators since the pandemic began.

The last WEC event to host fans was the Lone Star Le Mans round in Texas in February of 2020. Since then, all events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, have been held behind closed doors.

For the third round of the championship, and in accordance with COVID-19 regulations, the series will allow spectators back to the event for the first time in well over a year.

Fan attendance for the race at Monza is specifically limited to race day, Sunday 18 July, with practice and qualifying still off-limits. Fans will be allowed to watch the race on the right grandstand to the starting straight, with socially distanced seating assigned at the time of ticket purchase.

All ticket sales must be done in advance, with in-person purchases at the event gates not permitted. Everyone wishing to attend the event must comply with a mandatory health check-in procedure.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to welcome some of our loyal fans back to the WEC,” said WEC CEO Frédéric Lequien.

“I would like to thank everyone at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza and the Italian authorities for making this possible. I’d also like to thank our fans for their patience and continued support.”

Ticket sales for the Six Hours of Monza are open as of today. If regulations change, refunds will be offered at full price.
