Vettel has no problems with Webber staying put

Sebastian Vettel says he has ‘no problems’ with Mark Webber staying at Red Bull past the current season when the Australian’s contract expires.

The pair haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, particularly during the 2010 season when tensions were strained following a coming together in Turkey, then the British GP wing-saga.

Whilst the young German admits they’re not ‘best friends’, they do get along as colleagues and are working well together at the Milton Keynes based outfit.

“I can understand why people are thinking that there is a problem between Mark and myself,” he said. “Yes, we might not be best friends, but I have no problem with him and he has no problem with me.

“We work well together and we are both trying to pull the team in the same direction. We have a similar view for the car, it’s not as if one likes the set-up in the opposite way to the other.

“I think that is helping us, and so far it is working quite well. I’m not sure of his contract, but at the moment I think he is doing a very good job.”

Whilst Webber has been linked to a seat at Ferrari for 2013, possibly leaving an opening at Red Bull, Vettel is adamant that he doesn’t have a say in who partners him.

“It’s Christian [Horner’s] call and the team’s call, not my call. I could say what I would like but I don’t know if that would be taken into account.”
