Dany Bahar has been suspended from his role as chief executive officer of the Lotus automotive group.
Bahar was instrumental in relaunching the Norfolk based car company, including its motorsport activities which include the renaming of the former Renault team to Lotus – firstly through title sponsorship, but now through a multi-million pound loan.
A statement from parent company DRB-Hicom, which recently bought Proton (including Lotus) from the Malaysian government, confirmed the move.
“Group Lotus plc (“Lotus”) can today confirm that, following an operational review, chief executive Dany Bahar has been temporarily suspended from his role to facilitate an investigation into a complaint about his conduct made by Lotus’ penultimate parent company, DRB-Hicom Berhad.”
Bahar had been scheduled to attend the opening of a new Lotus Originals store in Monaco on Friday, but cancelled at the last minute.
