Italian outfit Cetilar Racing has unveiled its livery ahead of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the team compete in GTE Am for the first time.
It will run the #47 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, with long time partners Giorgio Sernagiotto and Roberto Lacorte joined by former Formula 2 race winner Antonio Fuoco.
“We embark on a new challenge with big expectations,” Lacorte said. “We’ll compete not only to compete, but to perform well and collect the results I think our team deserves. We have the best team and the best car in a charming livery that represents our country.”
The move into Ferrari GTE machinery marks a departure from the LMP2 category for the first time in several years.
After first running Dallara LMP2 machinery in the European Le Mans Series in 2017 and 2018, the team stepped up to the WEC in 2019, but found itself regularly outpaced by the rival ORECA runners.
The entry will be operated by AF Corse, which also runs Ferrari’s factory outfit. The Scuderia’s two cars in GTE Pro also feature Cetilar branding for the 2021 campaign.
Fuoco, former Ferrari Driver Academy member and current simulator driver for the Scuderia, will embark upon his maiden season in the WEC as part of his continuing transition from single seaters to sportscars. The GP3 and Formula 2 race winner first joined Cetilar Racing’s LMP2 effort at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
“I’ve just seen for the first time the car and I am very impressed by the new, aggressive livery,” he said. “We hope to be aggressive on track as well. We are ready and I really am feeling very positive about our chances.”
