Romain Grosjean and Kamui Kobayashi tied the second day of testing in Mugello, both setting an identical time of 1:21.603 to take the top spot.
The Lotus driver taking the outright P1 as he set his quickest time in the morning before Kobayashi.
The pair were only two tenths quicker than Sebastian Vettel who finished third having taken over from team-mate Mark Webber in the afternoon.
Michael Schumacher completed the most laps, 144, to cover over two race distances, whilst Force India’s Paul di Resta completed the least, just 14.
