Fernando Alonso topped the test times on day one at the Ferrari owned Mugello circuit with a comfortable lead over Red Bull’s Mark Webber.
Alonso set a 1:22.444 in the morning to lead Webber by over a second, giving Ferrari a positive boost as they trialled several new upgrades ahead of the European leg of the season.
Wet weather then set in for the afternoon, closing the circuit as visibility became so bad the medical helicopter was grounded.
That resulted in most drivers staying in the garage during the afternoon as they looked to preserve the allocated tyres.
Improved weather is expected for days two and three.
