Lewis Hamilton is certain is future lies with McLaren, and says he couldn’t be happier in the team.
The McLaren driver currently leads the 2012 championship after taking his third third place in three races.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, the 27-year-old is keen to commit his future to the team which has guided him from karting to F1 since he was just 13.
When asked if team principal Martin Whitmarsh had persuaded him to stay at the Woking outfit past 2012, Hamilton replied: “I don’t need persuading.
“The team are doing fantastic. I could not be happier in the team.”
Following a difficult season last year, he admits things are looking up for him: “Everything is better this year,” he added. “The team is better. The car is better. I am a lot better. I have got my dad here [in China] and that’s not fake; we have a really, really good bond now.
“Things are great and that’s reflected in my performances.”
Hamilton’s team-mate Jenson Button committed his future to McLaren last season with a multi-year deal.
