Lewis Hamilton has been summoned by a German court to provide evidence at the upcoming trial of Adrian Sutil, it has been confirmed.
Sutil is to be trialled for aggravated assault after he clashed with Lotus co-owner Eric Lux at the M1NT nightclub in Shanghai last April.
Lux received 24 stitches to his neck wound after the former Force India driver, who has been left on the sidelines for 2012, allegedly tried to throw the contents of his champagne glass over the businessman, but managed to cut his neck with the glass instead.
Hamilton, who won the Chinese Grand Prix just hours before the incident took place, was present at the nightclub when it happened, and is also good friends with Sutil.
The McLaren driver has been summoned to provide evidence between January 30th and 31st, just hours before McLaren will launch their 2012 car, the MP4-27 at their Woking factory.
