The BBC has announced their coverage plans for the 2012 season on the back of an announcement that Sky Sports will launch a dedicated F1 channel.
The BBC, which will only show half the races live, won’t broadcast an entire race weekend until the third round in China, followed by the Spanish, Monaco, European, British, Belgian, Singapore, Korean, Abu Dhabi and Brazilian GP’s.
The remaining ten races will be shown in a highlights programme on BBC 1, at 5:30pm for European races which will last 90-minutes, whilst the Asian race highlights will be shown at 2pm and last two hours.
The F1 forum, presented on the red button, will remain a feature of the BBC’s coverage.
An announcement in regards to the commentary line-up is yet to be made, but it is expected Martin Brundle will leave the corporation for Sky, to co-commentate with David Croft.
