Jose Maria Lopez has set the quickest time in second practice for the 8 Hours of Bahrain, outpacing the championship-leading Toyota by over a second.

The #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid lapped the Bahrain International Circuit in a fastest time of 01:48:601. Toyota’s #7 car is aided by Success Handicap this weekend and will lap half a second quicker than the #8 car, which holds a narrow championship lead. The #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid was second in practice, with Kazuki Nakajima setting a 01:44:004.

Racing Team Nederland returned to the top of the time sheets for the second consecutive session as Nyck de Vries posted a 01:48:601 aboard the #29 ORECA 07-Gibson to go fastest in LMP2.

De Vries was the only driver in the session to set a representative lap time, as the Dutchman’s best time was nearly two seconds quicker than that of the second car in class, the #36 Signatech Alpine A470-Gibson in the hands of Pierre Ragues. Ragues set a time of 01:50:302, a tenth quicker than the #22 United Autosports ORECA 07-Gibson of Phil Hanson.
