The FIA has confirmed it will re-open the selection process to find a 13th team to compete in the 2011 F1 championship.
They will also find a suitable reserve entry to replace any team which struggles to make the grid in 2011.
2009 saw many applications to race in 2010, many of which were turned down despite being in a better position than the failed USF1 team. These included: Lola, Epsilon Euskadi, Prodrive and N.Technology.
The FIA also confirmed that Karun Chandhok has been granted his super-license just hours before he will compete in Friday free practice. The FIA stated his GP2 experience and previous F1 testing had been satisfactory enough to warrant a license.
The FIA press release also confirmed the introduction of the Indian GP for 2011, subject to Bernie Ecclestone’s approval.
