Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso all spoke of their mixed feelings this weekend following the deaths of Dan Wheldon and Marco Simoncelli.

The threesome, who finished first, second and third respectively, dedicated the first Indian GP to the pair, as they spoke after the race in the FIA press conference.

“It was a very good race for us, I enjoyed the time in the lead very much,” said Vettel, who took his 11th win of the season.

“Thanks to the whole team, thanks to Renault. To be honest with you, it’s a little bit mixed emotions,” he admitted.

“On the one hand I’m very, very happy, but on the other hand, looking back at last weekend, we lost two of our mates. Our thoughts are with them.

“Yes we are ready to take certain risks when we jump into the car, but we pray that nothing happens. Sometimes you get reminded and it’s the last thing you want to see.”

Button added: “It was a good race, but as Seb said, a tough few weeks in motorsport. Very sad day also. I think we should dedicate this first Indian race to Dan, and to Marco.”

Alonso also admitted the weekend was full of mixed feelings, following a one minute silence before the race start to remember Wheldon and Simoncelli.

“I think as Sebastian and Jenson said, mixed feelings this weekend, with some sad days for motorsport with two accidents,” said the Spaniard. “We pray for them today and try to go ahead but always remember these two fantastic people.”
