Sebastian Vettel will start the Indian Grand Prix from pole position ahead of Mark Webber, despite Lewis Hamilton qualifying second – the McLaren driver will take a three-place penalty.

A Red Bull 1-2 will be followed by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, who struggled throughout the session. Hamilton will start fifth behind his teammate.

Felipe Massa, who on his final timed lap suffered a suspension failure after hitting the kerbs too hard, will start P6, ahead of Nico Rosberg.

Adrian Sutil, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari fill the remaining positions in the top ten, but failed to set a timed lap after opting to save tyres.
