Renault have been fined €7,500 (£6,500) by the FIA for a communication error during the safety car restart for the Singapore Grand Prix.
The team failed to inform Bruno Senna of his correct position as the safety car, caused by an accident involving Sergio Perez and Michael Schumacher, left the track for the race restart.
His race engineer told him he was behind Perez, but he was actually a lap down on the Sauber driver. He therefore tried to pass the Mexican but made contact doing so.
The FIA released the following statement: “The team failed to inform the driver of his correct race position which led to an avoidable collision with car No. 17 – Sergio Perez.”
