Sebastian Vettel went quickest in the second practice session for the Singapore GP, over 2.6s quicker than his FP1 time of 1:49.005.

Fernando Alonso headed Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa and Mark Webber who were all within a second of the German’s best lap.

Jenson Button finished tenth quickest but stopped on track after he locked up and failed to find reverse, forcing him to jump out of his McLaren halfway through the session.

With 35 minutes remaining, Sebastien Buemi walloped the wall at turn 21 which damaged his front-right suspension and saw him retire.
