US F1 have formally asked the FIA to defer their entry into Formula One until the 2011 season, according to SpeedTV.
The team, who have failed to build a car for the beginning of the 2010 season had been rumoured to be in discussions with Stefan GP to merge the two outfits.
However, after confirmation that the deal had broken down after being blocked by shareholders, the ‘all-American’ team has now defunct from the 2010 championship.
Team principal Ken Anderson and backer Chad Hurley have made it clear to the FIA that they will be ready for 2011, by offering to post a “substantial, seven-figure” bond as proof of their intentions to race next year.
Meanwhile, news about a second signing within the team have emerged. Again, according to SpeedTV, US F1 had agreed to sign former Honda test driver James Rossiter, but after reassurances that the team would make the opening race never materialised, Rossiter pulled out of the deal.
