Jackie Chan DC Racing LMP2 driver Gabriel Aubry is self-isolating after he was identified as suspected positive for COVID-19.

Aubry was scheduled to share the #37 ORECA 07-Gibson with partners Will Stevens and Ho-Pin Tung at this weekend’s Total Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

The Frenchman also raced with Algarve Pro Racing at last weekend’s 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as part of the European Le Mans Series. Aubry and the Algarve Pro crew which he came into contact with have gone into self-isolation, awaiting results of a second test.

“Following the in-depth health protocols and testing prior to the re-start of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Gabriel Aubry from the No.37 entry operated by JOTA Sport has been identified as suspected positive for COVID-19,” the WEC wrote in a statement.

“The driver plus those he has been in close contact with including the Algarve Pro Racing team for whom he competed in the European Le Mans Series at Spa last week, have entered self-isolation to await the results of a second test taken yesterday.

“This is in accordance with the instructions given by relevant public health authorities and the WEC and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps’ COVID-19 Medical Delegate and they will continue to follow the procedure mandated by those authorities.

“In accordance with the FIA and WEC protocols, and to mitigate the risks, the competitors and working staff at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, groups or ‘bubbles’ have been created with the minimum of cross-contact between each group.

“With the assistance of the FIA, the promoter, local health authorities and the WEC and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps’ COVID-19 Medical Delegate, a full track and trace initiative has been undertaken and all close contacts have been identified and quarantined as required until the results of the PCR tests carried out this morning are known. “

Further information will be released once the results are confirmed.”

It is currently unclear what these developments means for both the JOTA-run #37 ORECA and Algarve Pro’s #24 ORECA 07-Gibson, which is a one-off entry for Jon Lancaster, Henning Enqvist and Simon Trummer as the team prepares for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
