Misano will become the first MotoGP venue to allow spectators since grand prix motorcycle racing returned from its Covid-enforced break last month, the Italian track granting access to 10,000 fans per day.
The Misano World Circuit confirmed the news this morning in a press release, coming after the Emilia-Romangna region of Italy in which the track is located region granted permission for the organisers to open up the event to fans for the first time this year.
Both the San Marino and the Emilia-Romagna GP’s-due to be held in the middle of September-will become the first MotoGP outings to allow fans since the ’19 season finale at Valencia in November last year.
The opening five races of the shortened ’20 MotoGP schedule have all been held behind closed doors as efforts to beat the Covid-19 pandemic have continued across the globe.
The decision by the Emilia-Romagna region comes following both the significant reduction of Covid-19 cases across Italy in recent weeks as well as the Misano venue successfully proving it could implement anti-Covid prototcol at its recent racing events-including the GT World Challenge Europe series last weekend.
The restrictions put upon Misano means that up to 60,000 people will be able to experience live MotoGP racing across both its events.
