Mark Webber took over from Fernando Alonso at the lead of the timesheets for second practice on Friday, but the Spaniard wasn’t far behind.

The Ferrari driver slotted into second, just +0.168s behind, with the second Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel a further tenth back.

The session was fairly accident free, though a competitively spirited Alonso and Michael Schumacher had a minor duel with the German coming out on top.

Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi failed to set a timed lap after three outlaps following an off during first practice.
