Eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen has been confirmed as the driver steward for the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

The Danish driver is the most successful driver in the history of the Le Mans 24-Hour race. He has won the classic endurance event eight times – 1997, 2000-2005 and 2008 – starting with Porsche, six times with Audi and once with Bentley (2003).

Kristensen, 44, has a broad racing CV, having competed in single-seaters (Formula 3 and Formula 3000), saloons (British and German Touring Cars) and a range of sportscars.

He also has experience in an F1 car when he tested the Williams’ 1999 Formula 1 car, the FW21.
