Bruno Senna is setting his sights firmly on a racing return in 2012 after spending the current season as test and reserve driver at Renault.
The Brazilian, who made his debut with Hispania in 2010 alongside Karun Chandhok, lost his drive after finishing the season in 23rd position.
He then joined Renault and was in line to replace Robert Kubica following the Pole’s rally accident, before the team opted for the more experienced Nick Heidfeld.
Senna says he hopes to have something sorted before the years end.
“I want to be racing for as long as I can be racing for,” Senna told ESPNF1. “But in Formula One hopefully I’ll be sorted out by the end of the year, that’s the plan. And then we’ll see; that’s the hope.”
His year away from the circuit hasn’t been wasted however. The 27-year-old says he’s learnt valuable information from spending time with an established outfit.
“I’m learning a lot technically, of course my goal is to be in the car but I’ve been through quite a lot of situations that without being a test driver you wouldn’t go through, and it makes me look at things differently,” he added.
“For sure the next time I’m in a race car I’ll have a different point of view of how a race team operates and I think from my perspective it helps me a little bit.”
