Pipo Derani has set the pace in second and final practice for the Cadillac Grand Prix of Sebring, with the Brazilian setting a 01:46:940 in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR to go 0.272s quicker than Sebastien Bourdais’ #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac.

Times in the second practice session were significantly quicker compared to the previous session on Friday as the track had dried out since the opening session.

Helio Castroneves set the third fastest time in the #7 Acura Team Penske ARX-05, 0.408s slower than Derani but exactly three-tenths quicker than team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya in the #6 sister car.

Tristan Nunez was the quickest Mazda driver in fifth place ahead of the Cadillacs Renger van der Zande and Stephen Simpson, while the second Mazda of Jonathan Bomarito brought up the rear in class.

Menezes continues to shine

Gustavo Menezes once again set the pace in LMP2. The American WEC star led the five-car field by posting a 01:49:695 in the #81 Dragonspeed ORECA 07-Gibson. This was enough clear the #8 Tower Motorsport by Starworks ORECA by well over half a second, which set its quickest time in the hands of Ryan Dalziel.

Despite setting the second quickest time, the car suffered floor damage after Dalziel co-driver, John Farano, had several off-track excursions.

Spencer Pigot put the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA in third, nearly two seconds behind Menezes.

Porsche sweeps GTLM

Porsche continued to show strong pace by claiming the top spots in GTLM. Fred Makowiecki led the way in the #911 Porsche 911 RSR-19 by posting a 01:56:754, which was enough to beat the #912 Porsche of Laurens Vanthoor by less than a tenth of a second.

Corvette occupied the proverbial second row by placing third and fourth, with the #3 of Oliver Gavin ahead of the #4 of Jordan Taylor, while BMW brought up the rear.

Scuderia Corsa led the way in GTD, courtesy of Toni Vilander, who set a time of 02:02:538 to put the #63 Ferrari 488 GT3 on top, nearly two-tenths quicker than Aaron Telitz in the #12 Lexus RC F GT3, while Gar Robinson was third in the #74 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
