Fans in attendance for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans will be contained in designated ‘fan villages’ from where they will be able to watch the race, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has announced.

Each village will have a maximum capacity of 5000 people, and will be designated by a colour and strictly self-contained to limit and prevent contact and movement between groups of fans.

All villages will all offer a view over the racetrack and a big screen, along with special entertainment, eateries, car parking and some will have grandstands or camping pitches.

A face mask will be compulsory for any guest over the age of 11, and shared facilities will be cleaned ahead of the race and disinfected regularly throughout the event. In addition, hand saniziter dispensers will be placed around the circuit, and competitors and staff will also be given a specific protocol for the event.

Fans will be allowed to arrive at the circuit from 8 am on Thursday 17 September while the campsites will be open from 2pm on Wednesday 16 September. Scrutineering will also take place on the Wednesday, but behind closed doors at the track instead of the traditional event in the center of town.

The ACO will start contacting fans from August 17 to confirm village allocation and provide additional information.
