The Indian Grand Prix has officially been reinstated to its original date of October 30th following a unanimous vote to drop the Bahrain GP, after the organisers decided against rejoining the 2011 calendar.
The vote took place by fax among the teams with every single one voting against Bahrain taking place during the current season.
The inaugural Indian GP had been moved to December 11th following the FIA and WMSC’s decision to allow the Bahrain GP to go ahead in India’s place.
With the decision to drop Bahrain altogether, the governing body has ratified the new calendar which sees the race at the Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi taking up its original position.
“Following a fax vote of the FIA World Motor Sport Council and, by unanimous decision, the FIA Formula One World Championship calendar has been ratified as originally proposed,” read an FIA statement.
“The inaugural Indian Grand Prix will take place on October 30th, 2011 and the season will conclude in Brazil on November 27th, 2011.”
